Your own IT guy

Small IT jobs for a small business, an hour at a time

A website, email on your own domain, a bot, payments, a server you hear about first when it's down. When it needs doing and there's nobody on your side to sort it out. Remote, wherever you are.

What people usually ask

This isn't a price list, just what people write. If yours isn't here, ask anyway.

Emails from my domain land in spam for half of my clients
I want a website, but hosting costs 30 euro a month. Is that normal?
I need a bot that reminds students about payment
Our WordPress site got hacked, Google shows casino ads instead of us
We want to accept donations on the church website. Where to start?
Let's take a look. Send me the site address if you have one, or just tell me what you want.

A hacked account or data that's already gone usually can't be recovered, and I won't pretend otherwise. But I can set things up so it's much harder to repeat and there's something to restore from.

How it works

1

You message me on Telegram

In your own words: what doesn't work or what you want done. I reply within a day. Small things like email take an hour, a website from scratch a few days.

2

A call or a chat

Usually a call is enough: you share your screen, I tell you what to change. If access is needed, you create a separate account for me, I'll explain how. I don't copy or keep your data or messages.

3

It works. And you know why

If the task is bigger than an hour, I'll tell you up front. If something breaks after my changes, I roll back and fix it as part of the same task. You pay when it works, how we agree in chat.

4

You take the access back

When we're done, you delete my account and keys. Nobody keeps access, me included: I insist on that myself. All records and settings stay with you, and everything keeps working without me.

Who I am

Backend developer, more than 20 years of Go, Python and Perl. I built big systems in big companies, and here I help small ones: directly, with no middlemen and no long approvals. Experience and contacts: sopov.org.

Where I stand

I condemn Russia’s war against Ukraine. I don’t work with companies that pay taxes in Russia or Belarus or do business with them, or with people who support this war.

For churches, charities and other non-profits there is one condition: the person in charge doesn’t justify the war and doesn’t support it publicly. You don’t have to answer for the whole community, or make any public statements. I don’t ask, but if it comes out during the work, I stop the work.

Tell me what you need

I reply within a day. No forms, just a chat.
